Hasselblad's H-system comprises 11 central shutter lenses featuring focal lengths from 28 to 300mm. Since the S2 boasts a dual shutter system, allowing you to toggle between the focal plane shutter in the body and the central shutter in the lens--up to 1/750 sec--the S-Adapter gives you access to multiple additional lenses to expand your photographic options within Leica's S-system.
The versatility of your H-system lenses is significantly increased by the adapter, as well. Courtesy of the dual shutter system in the S2, H lenses are now usable with the focal plane shutter at speeds up to 1/4000 sec. Working together with Leica's Maestro image processor, the camera's sensor produces exceptional, noise-free exposures up to a sensitivity of ISO 1250.
Another benefit is that the DNG format of images from the S2 allows for direct connection to Adobe Lightroom 4 software and seamless transfer of data to Photoshop. The dedicated lens correction profiles computed by Leica for both programs aid you significantly in getting the optimal performance out of your H lenses.
For longer shooting sessions with high image frequency, the S2 offers substantial advantages as a result of its low power consumption. The optional multifunctional grip S with separate controls is a valuable aid for optimal camera handling for portrait-format shots.
The S-Adapter supports the following H-system lenses: HCD 4 / 28mm, HC 3.5 / 35mm, HC 3.5 / 50mm II, HC 2.8 / 80mm, HC 2.2 / 100mm, HC macro 4 / 120mm II, HC 3.2 / 150mm, HC 4 / 210mm, HC 4.5 / 300mm, HCD 4-5.6 / 35 - 90mm, and HC 3.5-4.5 / 50 - 110mm. The adapter does not offer support for the following: HTS 1.5 Tilt / Shift converter, Converter H 1.7x, Extension tubes H13, H26 and H52 and H-System CF-Adapter.
